Capital Campaign for Safety Equipment

We are seeking your help in raising funds to purchase equipment to ensure the safety of each athlete on their gymnastics journey. One of our immediate needs is the installation of a foam pit which would provide a safety-net for gymnasts as they attempt to throw harder tumbling tricks and releases on the uneven bars. Once more, it comes down to simple math, the cost of these upgrades far exceed what families of team gymnasts can afford alone.

About the Campaign

Dear Friend of AVGPA,

My daughter is a competitive gymnast for the Andy Valley Gymnastics Team. She dreams of being the next Simone Biles or Aly Raisman.

Odds are that she will never be an Olympian.

It all comes down to simple math; the Olympic Games happen once every four years and only four gymnasts (plus two alternates) have a shot at competing for gold. All the talent, heart, and dedication in the world won’t change that.

But competitive gymnastics is about so much more than Olympic dreams.

Competitive gymnastics is about building strong bodies, minds, and spirit. My daughter and her teammates challenge themselves every time they step foot on the gym floor. They set out to do what seems impossible. They ask their bodies to bend and contort in ways that their minds instinctively tell them not to–to flip and fly blindly, to keep fighting when they continually fail.

And then it happens, their bodies listen and they stick that round-off back handspring that they have been chasing for weeks, and sometimes months. Their perseverance in the face of constant setbacks will equip these children with the grit needed to better handle the challenges awaiting them outside the gym, now and long into their future.

Competitive gymnastics is grueling, rewarding, and at times risky. The coaching staff at Andy Valley Gymnastics uses all of their education and experience to limit the risk to our athletes, but without adequate safety equipment they are limited in their ability to help these gymnasts reach their fullest potential.
